Andrea Decibel - FLY
If I had to describe "Andrea Decibel - FLY" with a couple words I would say: pure Italo Dance music! It has been a while since a tune distracted me from writing a review!
On "Andrea Decibel - FLY" there are 7 versions of the song, I excluded the (Radio Mix) because it's the short version of the (Extended Mix). The (Extended Mix) starts immediately with a good fat Italo Dance bass line followed by a couple of vocal cuts and stutter effects. The vocals are sing in Italian and the melody is catchy, the vocals sound great with the accordion background melody.
The
main synth melody is also very good, the instrument sounds great with the bass line and drum pattern. After a while the first synth melody is played but with a different instrument. This one sounds more aggressively, but its very and I mean VERY GREAT!
The Musicforce Remix sounds much softer compared to the (Extended Mix), the vocals are the same only the backgrounds are different. The main melody on this version is different than the one used on the (Extended Mix), and its played on an accordion (I bet its just a software based synthesizer as this isn't the 80ties anymore). I noticed that there are many artists who like to use an accordion like instrument in soft dance music. Therefore I don't like it, this version is one of the worse version of FLY. I guess I'm more the type of guy who likes hard and aggressive Italo.
The (Berth Mix) version is a mix between hard and soft. The backgrounds are very soft but the synth melody sounds a little bit harder and aggressive which compensates it with the rest of the track. At the end this version isn't bad at all. As I cannot say much more about this version I'm going to talk about the next version.
As I always like the work of DJ Spampy Engel I was pretty positive about his version of FLY. And this time I was right again! In my opinion the (DJ Spampy Engel Remix) is the best version of this title. It has everything a good Italo Dance song needs to have!
The (DJ Spampy Engel Remix) starts immediately with some vocal cuts and stutter followed by an aggressive fat Italo Dance bass line and some snare kicks.
Again in this version the vocals are the same as the one from the other versions. The synth melody is very catchy and fits with almost everything used in this track. After a while you hear the vocals again but this time with a piano and guitar chords on the background, which gives it a TRUE Italo Dance theme!
Now lets move on to the next version which was done by RAG DJ. The (RAG DJ Remix) starts with the main Italian vocals with some guitar chords on the background. Followed by the famous Italo Dance bass line together with the vocals it sounds great. The best part of this version is the part where the vocals start together with a hard synth chord on the background. As I cannot say anything else about this version I'm moving to the next one.
Like the (Berth Remix) and (DJ Spampy Engel Remix) the (RAG DJ Remix) is very great. Like the version of DJ Spampy Engel the RAG DJ version has everything an Italo Dance track needs to have! Great bass lines, great synth melodies and great vocals!
The (Riki Noize Volando Mix) sound a lot like the RAG DJ version. Except the main synth melody is different. Still, that doesn't put this version in a bad daylight! This version is very great compared to the Musicforce version, any true Italo Dance lover would like it. As it's pretty similar as the other versions I really cannot go further in details as I did with the previous versions.
Its time for the last version (excluded the Radio Mix). The DJ Bovoli & The Wing Hard Dance Style version of FLY is like the other versions also: GREAT! This version has some softer bass lines on the vocal backgrounds but that doesn't matter. Of all the synth melodies I really like the one in this version because it sounds more symmetrical I guess.
If you are a true Italo Dance lover then this masterpiece cannot be missing in your Italo Dance collection. I really liked all the versions except the (Musicforce Remix). I really don't understand why someone would add such a bad version of a song on a great release. The accordion lead just made it look like some kind of wannabe House track, dear artists please don't do it. If I would buy a Hip Hop album then I would expect only Hip Hop songs on the album and not some Gabber/Hardcore tracks.
It seems like many artists nowadays are switched over to House/Pop which is sad because its quantity over quality. And there are many bad titles which are being published on Planeta Mix Spain. When it comes to the future of Italo Dance I'm holding my heart but meanwhile I'm glad to add "Andrea Decibel - FLY" to my Italo Dance music collection!
